Wooden Clocks and Violins
Located in Central Connecticut
With over sixteen years of experience, Tom Vaughn specializes in the repair and conservation of wooden movement clocks and violin family instruments.

Wooden Movement Clocks
Wooden gear clocks were one of Connecticut's largest exports during the first half of the 19th century. Thanks to clockmakers like Eli Terry, the Connecticut clock industry produced hundreds of thousands of wooden mechanisms from the 1810s to the 1830s.
As the Connecticut clock industry has long since ceased, Tom Vaughn carries on the tradition as the last Connecticut manufacturer of whole wooden clocks and parts.
Tom's clocks and parts are made using traditional and historically accurate hand tools, techniques, and practices.

Luthiery/Violin Services
After serving a decade long apprenticeship, Tom offers his services of museum-quality restoration work on antique violin family instruments.
From basic maintenance, to complete restoration jobs, instruments are repaired using historical and traditional methods. Each job is completed in a manner that is historically accurate to the instrument, reversible, and non-invasive.
Tom also specializes in the conservation and restoration of historical and contemporary bows.
